Maungu Hold Groundbreaking Ceremony for Plaza

shares

Construction of the Maungu Plaza in Voi was officially launched with a monumental ground-breaking ceremony on 31st July.

Shareholders of Maungu Conservancy gathered to witness the groundbreaking ceremony of the ambitious housing project set to diversify their income streams.

With a robust membership base of 3,000, primarily drawn from the greater Mbololo region, the community’s support is a testament to the project’s promise and potential.

Situated within Voi Central Business District, the multi-storey plaza will consist of rental stalls, conferencing, workshop and stay facilities, and office rooms. It will also house Maungu Conservancy’s satellite offices, away from the wild.

The iconic plaza is a bold step towards achieving sustainable growth as a result of environmental stewardship.

The plaza is suitable for all traders: from high-end businesses to small enterprise stalls. This is thanks to its ease of access from the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, connected by a well tarmacked road network.

The plaza will provide housing solutions for the local community while diversifying the income streams of Maungu Conservancy.

Maungu Manager

Historically, the mainstay of Maungu Conservancy and other member conservancies in the Taita Taveta region has been livestock production, a practice that has sustained many families over the years.

In recent times, enhanced conservation efforts have introduced carbon credits as a significant secondary income stream.

Now, with the introduction of real estate, Maungu Conservancy is leading others to a path of economic resilience and sustainable growth.
