On Thursday, 25 June 2026, the Governor of Taita Taveta County, H.E. Dr. Andrew Mwadime, officially commissioned the newly completed Maungu Ranch Plaza in the heart of Voi’s central business district.

What sets the Plaza apart? Every booking, every lease, and every conference hosted at Maungu Ranch Plaza directly supports Maungu Wildlife Conservancy’s programmes, which protect 53,000 acres of the Tsavo/Mkomazi ecosystem, and the greater Kilimanjaro and Amboseli landscape.

The launch of the Maungu Ranch Plaza is a wake-up call to all ranches across the county to step up and play their role in driving the socio-economic transformation of their members and the general public.

Maungu is a shining testimony of what community ranches can achieve. With 2,748 members and over 53,000 acres, the ranch has diversified its investments while creating opportunities for its people.

Looking Into The Future

During the ceremony, Maungu’s Chairperson, Nathaniel Mramba, noted that the Plaza marks the culmination of a long-term strategic planning by Maungu’s Board of Directors.

“To unlock the plaza’s full potential, we look forward to deepening our collaboration with the Taita Taveta County Government. Specifically, we seek more collaboration in upgrading the local road networks and sewerage infrastructure in alignment with the Voi Municipal Plan.”

Chairman Mramba also added that targeted county support in establishing modern cattle abattoirs will also help drive vital value addition within the livestock sector.

Additionally, accelerating the completion of the Njoro Kubwa water supply scheme would be critical in securing reliable water infrastructure, which would substantially elevate the region’s livestock production capacity, leading to even more remarkable economic outcomes in the future.
